GAMeC Bergamo reopens with Ti Bergamo and Abhijan Toto exhibition
GAMeC Bergamo director Lorenzo Giusti outlines the museum's autumn 2020 program, including two exhibitions opening October 1: 'Ti Bergamo', a hybrid tribute to the local community featuring artworks, photographs, documents, and videos created during lockdown, and 'In The Forest, Even The Air Breathes' by Abhijan Toto, winner of the 10th Premio Lorenzo Bonaldi per l'Arte – EnterPrize (announced June 2019), which brings together seven Southeast Asian artists. The museum postponed its ambitious 'Trilogia della materia' second show (following 'Black Hole. Arte e matericità tra Informe e Invisibile') by one year due to the pandemic. Giusti reports 27,000 visitors in under two months for the Daniel Buren exhibition at Palazzo della Ragione since its July 9 opening. He emphasizes the museum's renewed civic vocation and its role as a welfare pillar, and mentions upcoming collaborations with Centre Pompidou and the permanent expansion of Radio GAMeC.
