GAMeC Bergamo 2019 Season: Trio of Solo Shows and Major Exhibitions

exhibition · 2026-05-04

GAMeC – Galleria d’Arte Moderna e Contemporanea di Bergamo has announced its 2019 program, featuring a triple solo show running until February 24 with artists Oscar Giaconia, Jacopo Miliani, and Driant Zeneli. Curated by Sara Fumagalli and Valentina Gervasoni, the exhibitions occupy different floors of the museum. Giaconia presents 'Hoysteria', his first institutional solo show in Italy, with hyperrealist paintings and sculptures alongside the video 'Sexual Clumsiness'. Miliani, selected for the 11th edition of Artists’ Film International, shows videos 'Deserto' and 'TEOREMA TEOREMA TEOREMA' inspired by Pasolini, featuring performer Matyouz. Zeneli, soon to represent Albania at the Venice Biennale, presents the video trilogy 'When Dreams Become Necessity'. Later in 2019, GAMeC will host exhibitions by Francesco Gennari, Birgit Jürgenssen, and Jenny Holzer. In summer, a solo show by Luke Willis Thompson, curated by Edoardo Bonaspetti, inaugurates an annual Guest Curator series. Director Lorenzo Giusti, who has led the institution since 2017, emphasized the museum's commitment to emerging artists and curators.
