GAM Torino and Spinola Banna launch joint call for young artists
Since its inception in 2004, Fondazione Spinola Banna per l'Arte in Poirino has invited emerging artists to engage in creative exploration through residencies and workshops each year. This year marks the beginning of a three-year partnership with GAM Galleria Arte Moderna e Contemporanea di Torino, backed by Compagnia di San Paolo, which aims to enrich the initiative. For the 2016/17 cycle, Elena Mazzi (born in Reggio Emilia, 1984) will guide "Atlante Energetico," a project focused on energy and rice. The program encompasses workshops, exhibitions, conferences, performances, and a publication. A selection committee, featuring Gianluca Spinola and Carolyn Christov-Bakargiev, will choose five artists under 35 to take part in two residency sessions in autumn 2016 and spring 2017. Applications must be submitted by September 15, 2016.
