GAM Torino and Fondazione Spinola Banna conclude three-year artist residency

The third and final edition of the joint artist residency between GAM Torino and Fondazione Spinola Banna concluded with a final exhibition on June 8-9, 2019, at the Fondazione's venue in Poirino, near Turin. The three-year project, supported by Compagnia di San Paolo, involved 15 young artists (five per year) selected through a national call. Each edition was guided by a tutor artist: Elena Mazzi, the duo Andrea Caretto/Raffaella Spagna, and Maria Morganti. The 2018-2019 edition, coordinated by Maria Morganti under the theme "Diari tra Diari" (Diaries among Diaries), explored diary expression in visual, literary, technical, archival, and musical forms. The five participating artists were Daniele Costa, Alice Mazzarella, Davide Sgambaro, Caterina Silva, and Virginia Russolo, with curator Elena Volpato from GAM. Stefano Arienti also contributed works and mentored the artists during the final phase. The residency included workshops, seminars, conferences, performances, and visits to other institutions, culminating in each artist creating a work for the final show and a catalog contribution. Fondazione Spinola Banna director Luisella Molina and GAM director Riccardo Passoni highlighted the project's success in redefining traditional residency models and fostering long-term artistic research.
