Gallotti & Radice Celebrates 70 Years with 'Tales in Glass' Exhibition at Milan Design Week 2026

architecture-design · 2026-04-21

Gallotti & Radice marks its 70th anniversary with 'Tales in Glass', an exhibition at Milan Design Week 2026. The show unfolds in three chapters within an immersive installation by Parisian architect Sophie Dries at Palazzo Meli Lupi di Soragna. It features new commissions from a global group of female designers, including Estudio Persona, Miminat Shodeinde, Valentina Cameranesi Sgroi, Ivania Carpio, Fumie Shibata, and Rania Hamed. The exhibition traces the brand's history, beginning with its 1955 founding in Brianza by Pierangelo Gallotti and Luigi Radice, who focused exclusively on glass. Early pieces like the 1971 'Adam' table, considered the first all-glass table, are displayed alongside reinterpretations. A 1970s innovation using stainless steel joints enabled larger works like the 1975 'T35 Trio' coffee table set. Current catalog selections and new launches at Salone del Mobile by Studiopepe, Federica Biasi, and Francesco Meda with David López Quincoces are included. The designers incorporated cultural influences and artisanal techniques, such as fused amethyst glass, hand-shaded tempered glass, and crackled surfaces with aluminium leaf. Dries' scenography features fabric-wrapped walls with reclaimed glass threads. The exhibition runs from April 20-25, 2026, with extended hours on April 21 and 26.
