Gallery Weekend Berlin 2025: 52 Galleries, 80 Artists Across the City

festival-fair · 2026-04-26

The 21st edition of Gallery Weekend Berlin runs from May 2 to 4, 2025, with 52 galleries and 80 artists from over 20 countries. The event replaces a traditional art fair in the German capital. Kaufhaus des Westens (KaDeWe), a luxury department store founded in 1907, will transform ten windows on Tauentzienstrasse into a curated exhibition by Sebastian Hoffmann, inspired by 1960s New York window displays. Participation requires a permanent Berlin venue, ongoing representation of proposed artists, and a regular public exhibition program. The selection is overseen by a board including Jörn Bötnagel, Philomene Magers, Jochen Meyer, Bärbel Trautwein, and Nadine Zeidler. Notable exhibitions include Tony Cragg at Buchmann-Galerie, Roméo Mivekannin at Galerie Barbara Thumm, Wim Wenders at Galerie Bastian, Cyprien Gaillard at Sprüth Magers, Olafur Eliasson at Galerie Neugerriemschneider, Sun Yitian at Esther Schipper, and Monica Bonvicini at Capitain Petzel. The event aims to foster dialogue among international art enthusiasts with diverse backgrounds.
