festival-fair · 2026-04-20

Gallery Weekend Beijing's fifth edition runs from April 27 to May 2, 2021, with a VIP preview from April 23 to 25. Multiple exhibitions across Beijing showcase diverse artistic approaches. At Hua International, Rafael Domenech presents his first China solo show 'Imperfect Fragments of an Uncertain Whole' (April 21–June 18), featuring used materials like egg cartons and wire coils interacting with books on a carved table, exploring architecture as linguistic device. Galleria Continua hosts Zhuang Hui's 'Qilian Range, Redux' (April 24–June 27), revisiting his decade-long project about the Qilian mountain range through videos, climbing tents, and rock-engraved QR codes. Wang Yin's paintings at 798 Art Zone & Vitamin Creative Space (April 23–June 5) use only natural light, creating semi-abstract figures with blurred lines in a tranquil cloister. New Century Art Foundation's 'Polyphonic Strategies: The Moving Image and its Expanded Fields' (April 23–July 3) features five artists including Yang Fudong, Chen Dandizi, Li Ran, Yu Honglei, and Wang Xu working with video installations, photos, archives, paintings, and sculpture. Faurschou Foundation presents Zachary Armstrong's 'Bag of Candles' (January 15–June 13), using encaustic painting to evoke American folklore and childhood memories. These shows highlight varied media from video to painting, with themes ranging from personal nostalgia to environmental engagement.
