Gallerie dell'Accademia di Venezia Opens Two New Rooms with 63 Works

The Gallerie dell'Accademia di Venezia has unveiled two new rooms on the ground floor, named Saloni Selva-Lazzari, featuring 63 artworks, many of which have never been displayed before. These additions finalize the 13-room exhibition that spans the 17th to 19th centuries. Room 5 showcases large ecclesiastical paintings by artists from outside Venice, while Room 6 presents thematic landscapes, genre scenes, and historical works, including Giulia Lama's Giuditta e Oloferne and Tiepolo's Castigo dei serpenti (1732-1734). The restoration covered 230 square meters and involved 31 conservators, with funding from private partners like Venetian Heritage. Culture Minister Dario Franceschini highlighted that the 2014 museum reform and Art Bonus tax incentive enabled these collaborations. President Roberto Cicutto announced a 16.5% rise in visitors to the Architecture Biennale.
