Galleria UNA Opens in Piacenza with Filippo Minelli Solo Show
Galleria UNA has opened in Piacenza, founded by Marta Barbieri and Paola Bonino, former directors of Placentia Arte. The new space at Via Sant'Antonino 33 replaces the previous gallery, which was in a highly connoted location that sometimes made it difficult for artists to engage. UNA aims to rebrand and expand internationally while continuing to focus on emerging artists. The gallery's inaugural exhibition, 'Paysage' by Filippo Minelli, opened on May 5, 2018, exploring unstable borders in contemporary geopolitics. Future shows include a group exhibition in September, a solo show by Lucia Cristiani, and a collaboration with Leonardo Assicurazioni in Milan featuring Thomas Berra, Simone Monsi, and Irene Fenara. The space, a former bicycle repair shop, is a long gallery with a vaulted ceiling, 10 meters long and over 5 meters high, suitable for large installations. The founders previously organized the performance festival Livenel in September 2016 and have added Irene Fenara to their roster.
