Galleria Nazionale di Roma presents feminist body art and George Drivas
The Galleria Nazionale d'Arte Moderna e Contemporanea in Rome expands its contemporary art program with two concurrent exhibitions: 'Corpo a Corpo' and 'Uncinematic' by George Drivas. Curated by Paola Ugolini, 'Corpo a Corpo' traces the use of the body in feminist art from the 1960s onward, featuring works by Carolee Schneemann, Gina Pane, Marina Abramović and Ulay, Trisha Brown, Simone Forti, Eleonora Chiari, Sara Goldschmied, Silvia Giambrone, and Chiara Fumai. The exhibition highlights how performance and body art were used to contest and redefine female identity. George Drivas's solo show, curated by Daphne Vitali, presents his experimental film works that reference science fiction, the French New Wave, and directors like Jean-Luc Godard and Chris Marker. Using still-frame techniques and black-and-white imagery, Drivas creates dystopian landscapes that evoke Greece and Europe. The exhibitions run at the Galleria Nazionale in Rome.
