Galleria Il Chiostro Revives Maddalena Carioni Magliano's 1970s Milan Scene

Galleria Il Chiostro in Saronno hosts a retrospective of Maddalena Carioni Magliano's brief but influential gallery activity in Milan from spring 1972 to summer 1973. The gallery, located in the residential area of the old fairgrounds, featured major artists despite its short lifespan. The inaugural show was dedicated to Fernando Tonello, who died shortly after at age 32. A pivotal group exhibition in May 1972 included Luciano Fabro, Mario Fusco, Jasci, Tonello, Hidetoshi Nagasawa, Mario Nigro, Remo Salvadori, Antonio Trotta, and Zvi Goldstein. A second group show in December 1972 added Giovanni Anselmo, Giorgio Bagnoli, Alighiero Boetti, Urs Lüthi, Renato Mambor, Eliseo Mattiacci, Giulio Paolini, Giuseppe Penone, Salvo, Dorothée Von Windheim, Zaza, Zini, and Gilberto Zorio. In June 1973, the gallery presented a book and multiples by Vincenzo Agnetti before closing for non-artistic reasons. The Saronno exhibition features works by Agnetti, Anselmo, Boetti, Pier Paolo Calzolari, Fabro, Giorgio Griffa, and Mimmo Rotella.
