Galleria Damasco Opens in Cesena with Wunderkammer Malia
In Cesena, Italy, the Galleria Damasco has just opened at Via Fra Michelino 9, near Piazza del Popolo. Founded by Chiara Fabbri with partners Mario Bizzocchi and Sara Fabbri, the gallery draws inspiration from Fabbri’s travels in the Middle East, especially her time in Syria from 2010 to 2011, and her family's background in art collection and antiques. The inaugural exhibition, "Wunderkammer Malia," curated by Maria Grazia Melandri, features artists like Aqua Aura and Sandro Chia, showcasing diverse art forms such as sculpture and photography. They also launched a luxury brand, Le Damasco Chic, which sells sandals to aid Syrian children. Plus, on May 12, there will be a literary coffee event with readings by Franco Casadei about famous artists. This opening coincides with a wave of new art spaces in Italy, including initiatives in Foggia and Milan.
