Galleria d'Arte Maggiore Hosts Art Breakfasts in Paris During Art Basel

exhibition · 2026-04-26

Galleria d'Arte Maggiore is organizing "Petit Déjeuner sur l'art" at its Paris space, 208 Boulevard Saint Germain, on October 22 and 23, focusing on Massimo Campigli, and on October 25, dedicated to Giorgio Morandi. The breakfast talks run from 10:30 to 12:00 and are led by Alessia Calarota, owner of Galleria Maggiore and vice president of ACP Palazzo Franchetti, and Federica Fruttero, art historian specializing in prints and former project manager at Musée Yves Saint Laurent Paris. The initiative coincides with Art Basel Paris at the Grand Palais (October 24–26). The gallery is concurrently presenting the exhibition "Le radici arcaiche della contemporeità" featuring Campigli, curated by Alessia Calarota, on view until October 16. Campigli (Berlin, 1895 – Saint-Tropez, 1971) is known for archaic sensibilities with Mediterranean echoes. The exhibition includes works such as "La Spiaggia" (1937), a sketch for a mural at Ferrania in Milan, "Theatre / La Scala / Teatro" (1951), "Medaglioni" (1962), "Donna con anfora" (1930), "Idole au Corsage rouge" (1962), and "Pallavolo" (1931). Campigli collaborated with architect Gio Ponti on projects including the University of Padua and the Ferrania building. The Paris venue was chosen to honor the city's influence on Campigli since 1919, when he engaged with primitivist intellectual and artistic circles.
