Galleria Continua San Gimignano Opens Four Simultaneous Exhibitions

exhibition · 2026-04-27

Galleria Continua in San Gimignano has launched four new exhibitions in addition to the ongoing JR project, which began in September 2021. These exhibitions delve into themes of memory, matter, and contemporary life. Osvaldo González showcases his inaugural solo exhibition in Italy, titled 'Viaje,' featuring installations crafted entirely from packing tape that mimic domestic spaces, creating a reflective labyrinth of light and shadow. Giovanni Ozzola's 'Atto Unico / Single Act' is a site-specific installation in the medieval tower, incorporating cement prints, a photograph of a starry ceiling from lockdown, a bunker replica, and ship bells to examine contrasts such as day/night and male/female. Curated by Luigi Fassi and Alberto Salvadori, 'Eyes in the Sky' assembles international artists like Leila Alaoui and Kader Attia, inspired by Marshall Berman's 'All That Is Solid Melts Into Air,' addressing themes of memory and future possibilities through works on pain and redemption. 'La Matière Vivante,' curated by Simon Njami, features Donna Kukama and Nandipha Mntambo, with Kukama creating an enigmatic script in steel and Mntambo presenting sculptures with female body imprints and performing as a matador, reflecting on the political experience of being a black woman. This exhibition is currently on view at Galleria Continua, San Gimignano.
