Galleria Continua in San Gimignano Features Three Brazilian Artists in Interrelated Solo Shows

Galleria Continua in San Gimignano is currently presenting three interrelated solo exhibitions featuring Brazilian artists Marcelo Cidade, Jonathas de Andrade, and André Komatsu. This marks the first time these artists have been shown at the gallery. Cidade and Komatsu, who share a studio in São Paulo, have developed practices deeply influenced by Brazil's modernist urban development and its architecture. Their site-specific works engage directly with the gallery's unique spatial characteristics while also reflecting on recent, often violent street protests in Brazil. De Andrade's work similarly carries political themes, though he approaches them through broader references to social history and economic conditions. His artistic method frequently involves combining catalogues, images, texts, personal narratives, and architectural materials to construct alternative histories and narratives. All three artists have gained significant international recognition in recent years, emerging as major figures within Brazil's contemporary art scene.
