Galleria Continua expands to Paris and São Paulo amid global ventures

institutional · 2026-04-20

In 1990, Mario Cristiani, Lorenzo Fiaschi, and Maurizio Rigillo established Galleria Continua, which last year expanded to Rome, moving away from its original venues in San Gimignano, Italy, and Les Moulins, France. The gallery opened a new location in central Paris in 2024, standing out from dealers focusing on suburban resorts, and also launched a popup featuring Anish Kapoor in Dubai. Lorenzo Fiaschi shared with The Art Newspaper that the Paris initiative was intended to 'generate smiles' in a city experiencing 'sadness,' starting with a JR-curated exhibition before renovations and followed by two group shows. Meanwhile, the Beijing space has been active since 2005. The Pacaembu Stadium in São Paulo, Brazil, is currently under renovation, where a small exhibition of Cuban artists was held, anticipating a future gallery there. However, their operations in Cuba have faced backlash, with some activists accusing them of supporting the government.
