Galleria Casoli De Luca presents over 100 Duchamp works in Rome
Galleria Casoli De Luca, founded by veteran gallerist Sergio Casoli and 32-year-old Mattia De Luca, opened its second exhibition in Rome on October 13, 2018, dedicated to Marcel Duchamp. Titled 'By or of Marcel Duchamp or Rrose Sélavy', the show features over 100 works including the unique ready-made 'Porta: 11 rue Larrey' (1927), never before exhibited in Rome. Other highlights include 'La boîte verte' (two versions), 'La Boîte-en-valise', photographs by Ugo Mulas and Man Ray, and a complete collection of etchings for 'The Large Glass'. All pieces come from a private collection in northern Italy. The gallery hopes to sell the collection intact to an institution. The space, located in Palazzo Albertoni in one of Mario Schifano's former studios, opened last spring with a Francesco Lo Savio exhibition. Casoli had closed his Milan gallery 17 years prior. De Luca stated they aim to host one living artist per year but remain focused on modern art, and they plan to avoid art fairs, preferring a 'romantic' approach to gallery work.
