Galerie Patrick Fourtin Celebrates Art Deco Centenary at PAD London
Galerie Patrick Fourtin, a Parisian gallery founded in 1996 and specialized in 20th-century design and decorative arts, will participate in PAD London from October 14 to 19, 2025. The stand, designed by French interior designer Pierre Gonalons, presents iconic Art Deco pieces to mark the centenary of the 1925 Exposition Internationale des Arts Décoratifs. Highlights include two previously unseen works by Eugène Printz, commissioned in the 1930s for a Parisian residence, featuring palm wood, sycamore, and sponge-oxidized bronze, with a metal front by Jean Dunand. Also on display is a lamp that belonged to Jacques Doucet, designed by Pierre Legrain, which remained on Doucet's desk for years. A pair of modernist cabinets by Eckart Muthesius recalls his work for Maharaja Yeshwant Rao Holkar II of Indore, for whom he designed the Manik Bagh Palace between 1930 and 1933. Ceremonial floor lamps by André Arbus, noted for their craftsmanship and rarity, are also exhibited. Patrick Fourtin stated that the Printz and Dunand pieces are of museum quality and have never appeared on the market, remaining with the commissioning family. Gonalons, who received the Le Talent du Bien-Être award in May 2025, designed the stand to give the works a sacred aura. He will also design his first restaurant and present a new collection for the Boghossian Foundation in Brussels this autumn.
