Galerie Negropontes Opens in Venice's Restored Palazzina Masieri

Sophie Negropontes established Galerie Negropontes in 2012, and it is set to launch its inaugural venue in Venice on March 22, 2024. This new location will be situated in the Palazzina Masieri, an 18th-century structure along the Grand Canal in Dorsoduro, which is owned by Fondazione Masieri and overseen by Benno Albrecht. The restoration was carried out by Heritage Asset Management, co-founded by Roberta Bartolone and Giulio Mangano, along with Barman architects. The building has a rich history, with previous design efforts by Frank Lloyd Wright and Carlo Scarpa. The gallery's first exhibition, "Armonia Metis" (March 22–November 24, 2024), will highlight works from Negropontes artists and feature a collaboration between Perrin & Perrin and Mircea Cantor, with plans to support Italian artists and work with Murano glass artisans in the future.
