Galaxy Acquires 500 Acres in Texas for AI Data Center Campus

On July 28, 2026, Galaxy, a company specializing in digital assets, purchased around 500 acres within McGregor Industrial Park in McGregor, McLennan County, Texas, to establish a campus for AI and high-performance computing data centers. This marks Galaxy's second significant investment in Texas, following the Helios campus. The McGregor project will unfold in multiple phases, beginning with 74 MW of power and aiming for a multi-hundred-megawatt capacity by 2030, with initial power expected in 2028. Funded privately, the initiative is projected to bring in $7.5 million in revenue for McGregor and enhance the local tax base by at least $130 million. The construction phase will create numerous jobs and implement a closed-loop cooling system, though risks related to permitting and regulatory approvals remain.
