exhibition · 2026-05-04

The Museu Nacional d'Art de Catalunya (MNAC) in Barcelona has launched 'Gala Dalí. Una stanza propria a Púbol', marking the first significant exhibition that portrays Gala Dalí (originally Helena Dmitrievna Diakonova, born in Russia in 1894) as a vital collaborator in Salvador Dalí's artistic journey. Curated by Estrella de Diego, the exhibition showcases more than 300 works, including paintings, sketches, and personal artifacts, highlighting Gala's cultured and ambitious nature. In collaboration with the Fundació Gala-Salvador Dalí, it features items loaned from the Dalí Museum in St. Petersburg, Florida, among others. The exhibition, which explores her life story from the Castle of Púbol, where she is interred, will be open until October 14, 2018. Gala was with Dalí from 1929 until her passing in 1982.
