Gal Weistein Selected as Israel's Representative for 57th Venice Biennale
Gal Weistein will represent Israel at the 57th Venice Biennale in 2017. The mixed-media artist received notification of his appointment from Culture Minister Miri Regev. Regev faced accusations earlier in 2016 of censoring government critics. Weistein's recent exhibitions include Seeing stars at Gordon Gallery in Tel Aviv during 2013. He also presented Demonstrating Presence at Kunsthaus Baselland in Basel, Switzerland in 2011. Another 2011 exhibition, Details, was held at Keitelman Gallery in Brussels, Belgium.
