Gail Cochrane, historic artistic director of Fondazione Spinola Banna, dies in Turin

Gail Cochrane, born December 30, 1952 in Turin, has died in the same city where she lived and worked. She was a lecturer, art consultant, and curator who contributed to over 300 contemporary art collections for companies and patrons. From 2004 to 2015, she served as artistic director of the Fondazione Spinola Banna per l'Arte in Poirino, Turin, directing residency programs for emerging artists. Since 2017, she co-directed the Master in Design for Arts at the DAD, Department of Architecture and Design of the Polytechnic University of Turin. In 2022, she became coordinator of the SYDERE_ARTS research laboratory and curator and coordinator of GYM (Growing Youthful Material), an interdisciplinary residency program for architects, designers, and visual artists. Earlier roles included curator at the Sandretto Re Rebaudengo collection in Turin (1992–1996) and member of its Scientific Committee until 1996, as well as involvement in the Campo 6 project. From 1999 to 2008, she worked for the Fondazione Teseco per l'Arte in Pisa on site-specific projects and the corporate collection at Teseco spa. From 2009, she curated the Bosco Collection (Catania/Rome). From 2002 to 2008, she curated the environmental project of the Tiscali Campus in Cagliari and a lecture series promoted by Tiscali spa at the Faculty of Engineering/Department of Architecture of the University of Cagliari.
