Gaia De Megni's First Major Solo Show at Fondazione La Rocca in Pescara
Fondazione La Rocca in Pescara, established in 2023 under president Ottorino La Rocca and artistic director Francesca Guerisoli, presents 'Leitmotiv', the first major solo exhibition of artist Gaia De Megni (born 1993, Santa Margherita Ligure). The show features seven new mixed-media installations divided into three acts, inspired by cinema and theater, including paper costumes, shadow puppets, silk drawings, and marble projections. De Megni's work explores autobiographical traces from her hometown Portofino, using materials like bronze reproductions of eucalyptus and carob seeds. The exhibition references Michelangelo Antonioni's 1995 film 'Al di là delle Nuvole', shot partly on the path to Portofino's lighthouse. The foundation aims to foster dialogue between the city and national contemporary art centers, with a public program. Previous participants include Daniela Comani (Bologna, 1965), Ludovica Anversa (Milan, 1996), and Eugenio Tibaldi (Alba, 1977). The exhibition runs until January 24, 2025.
