Gagosian Plans Paris Benefit Show for Notre-Dame Reconstruction

Larry Gagosian will organize a charity exhibition in June at his Paris gallery to support the reconstruction of Notre-Dame Cathedral following the April 2019 fire. All proceeds from the sale of artworks will be donated to the restoration effort. The lineup of participating artists has not yet been announced, but expectations are high. Gagosian stated that Notre-Dame is one of the most recognized symbols of Paris and France, and he felt compelled to contribute after watching the cathedral burn. The initiative differs from the direct donations made by François Pinault and Bernard Arnault, as Gagosian aims to create a cultural event that engages the public. This comes shortly after Gagosian launched Gagosian Art Advisory, a consultancy service for collectors. The fire, which broke out on April 15, 2019, caused the collapse of the spire and extensive damage, prompting global pledges for rebuilding.
