Gaggenau's Presence installation at Villa Necchi Campiglio during Milan design week 2026

architecture-design · 2026-04-15

During Milan design week 2026, kitchen appliance brand Gaggenau presents its week-long Presence installation at the historic Villa Necchi Campiglio, designed in partnership with Munich-based Studio 1ZU33. The minimalist exhibition, occupying the villa's glass conservatory, showcases both existing and newly launched products, including the Expressive Series oven on a stepped stage and Vario Cooling Expressive series wine fridges behind brass-effect doors. This marks the brand's third takeover of the space, following events in 2022 and 2024. Visitors can experience products firsthand and attend events, including a Dezeen talk with architect John Pawson, which will be filmed and published post-event. Three-Michelin-star chef Tohru Nakamura contributed a culinary integration demonstrating product use. Gaggenau managing director Peter Goetz described the installation as refining to the essential, allowing space, material, and light to speak for the brand, offering a refuge from Milan's distractions. Villa Necchi Campiglio, designed by architect Piero Portaluppi between 1932 and 1935 and featured in Luca Guadagnino's 2009 film I Am Love, hosts the installation from April 21 to 26, 2026. Dezeen partnered with Gaggenau to produce a video documenting the immersive experience.
