Gaetano Pesce's Chiat/Day Office Fragments Reunited at Pulp Galerie, Paris
Pulp Galerie in Paris reunites surviving fragments of Gaetano Pesce's radical 1994 Chiat/Day office redesign in New York. Commissioned by Jay Chiat as a paperless, mobile 'virtual office' on the 38th floor of a Financial District skyscraper, the project was one of the first open-plan, hot-desking environments. The office closed in 1998 after Chiat/Day's merger with TBWA, and most of the interior was destroyed. The exhibition, on view from March 26 to May 30, 2026, assembles surviving desks, chairs, locker doors, and architectural fragments, including the Locker Doors (1994), Waffle Table (1994), TBWA/Chiat/Day Desks (1995), and Highway Door (1995). A video by Françoise Dalmon and Centre Pompidou documents the office eight days before destruction. The show also features preparatory sketches and photographs by Donatella Brun, aiming to reintroduce this overlooked project to collectors and design enthusiasts.
