Gabrielle Cavassa Debuts on Blue Note with 'Diavola'

publication · 2026-04-26

Jazz vocalist Gabrielle Cavassa releases her Blue Note Records debut album 'Diavola' on May 1, 2026. The album is co-produced by Joshua Redman and Blue Note president Don Was. Cavassa, co-winner of the 2021 Sarah Vaughan International Jazz Vocal Competition, was previously featured on Redman's 2023 album 'Where Are We'. 'Diavola' includes originals like the title track and 'Bossy Nova', as well as covers of 'Raindrops Keep Falling on my Head' and Barry Manilow's 'Could It Be Magic'. Cavassa conceived the album while eating Diavola pizza and developed an alter ego named Diavola to express emotions like anger and vanity. She cites visual artist Tracey Emin and filmmaker Luca Guadagnino as inspirations. Cavassa will celebrate the release with a listening party in New Orleans, followed by a three-night run at Birdland in New York and a tour of the East Coast and Midwest.
