Gabriele Tinti's Poetic Homage to de Chirico at Museo del Novecento

On September 15, 2018, the Museo del Novecento in Milan hosted 'La nostalgia del poeta: omaggio a Giorgio de Chirico,' an event featuring poet Gabriele Tinti's video works 'Combattimento' and 'Figliol prodigo.' These pieces are part of Tinti's larger project 'Rovine,' previously presented at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, J. Paul Getty Museum, British Museum, and Glyptothek in Munich. The evening included readings by actor Alessandro Haber and was curated by Katherine Robinson of the journal 'Metafisica. Quaderni della Fondazione Giorgio e Isa de Chirico.' Tinti's poems explore de Chirico's paintings: 'Combattimento,' commissioned by Parisian art dealer Rosenberg, depicts wrestlers in a claustrophobic room with toy shields and reluctant gladiators, evoking de Chirico's novel 'Ebdòmero.' 'Figliol prodigo,' based on a 1917 drawing, reinterprets the biblical parable with a mannequin son embracing a statue father, set against a Renaissance building reminiscent of the Museo Archeologico di Napoli.
