Gabriele Picco: Painting, Sculpture, and the Poetics of the Deformed
Gabriele Picco, an artist and writer born in Brescia in 1974, divides his time between Italy and New York. He pursued Modern Literature at the Università Statale di Milano, specializing in Art History. His artistic repertoire encompasses painting, sculpture, installation, and literature, often showcasing surreal themes and antihero characters. Recently, he held a solo exhibition titled "Dovrei smetterla di origliare le falene" at Palazzo storico della Crocera di San Luca, part of the "Meccaniche della Meraviglia" series. A highlight of this exhibition is "Frank il fachiro," a remarkable 16-meter sculpture crafted from 57,000 ice cream cones. Picco's artistic journey began in 1983, and he has works included in MoMA's collection, as well as novels like "Cosa ti cade dagli occhi." Tiziano Scarpa assisted with the exhibition catalog, and Picco is currently creating in a new studio in Brescia.
