Gabriele Finaldi Appointed Director of London's National Gallery
Gabriele Finaldi will become the National Gallery's new director in August, succeeding Nicholas Penny who retired last year. Currently serving as deputy director for collections and research at Madrid's Prado Museum, Finaldi previously worked at the London institution from 1992 to 2002 as curator of Italian and Spanish paintings. Born in London, he studied art history at Dulwich College and the Courtauld Institute. The appointment was announced by the National Gallery.
