Gabriele Di Matteo's Layered Image Deconstruction at Châteauroux
The exhibition by Gabriele Di Matteo took place at the Ecole municipale des beaux-arts and Collège Marcel Duchamp in Châteauroux, France, from October 9 to December 6, 2002. It highlighted his diverse painting techniques, which included four concentric circles: the enlargement of old engravings and magazine pages, a juxtaposition of computer-generated and hand-painted images, large-scale representations from the Illustrated Life of Marcel Duchamp, as well as portraits of Yasser Arafat and Jorge Luis Borges. Additionally, he commissioned a painter to illustrate historical events featuring nude figures, challenging the concept of image appropriation. Didier Arnaudet curated the exhibition. Meanwhile, the Frac Limousin exhibited his works spanning 1986 to 2002 from March 15 to May 29, 2002. Future exhibitions were planned for Mc Magma in Milan (autumn 2002), Galerie 101 in Ottawa (winter 2003), and Le Grand Café in Saint-Nazaire (spring 2003).
