Gabriele De Santis' Site-Specific Intervention at Frutta Gallery
Two years after his last show, Gabriele De Santis (Rome, 1983) returns to Frutta Gallery in Rome with a site-specific intervention. The work strongly alludes to three major contemporary artists: Donald Judd, Alighiero Boetti, and Carl Andre. De Santis employs an urban, street-style approach that physically occupies the space, using all gallery walls at multiple levels to create a sense of disorientation. While spray paint dominates, several oil-on-canvas works complete and contrast the graffiti, establishing continuity. Intermittent, overlapping reliefs invite a dynamic visual engagement. De Santis theorizes the illusion of creativity within a pre-assembled, easily accessible universe. Bold lines, chromatic exaggerations, and pure decoration evoke the poetry and joy typical of Italian culture and the artist himself.
