Gabriele Basilico retrospective at Museo Archeologico Regionale in Aosta
The Museo Archeologico Regionale in Aosta hosts a major exhibition of Gabriele Basilico's photography, curated by Angela Madesani. Over 200 works span the Milanese photographer's career, from his 1980s industrial Milan series to color images of reconstructed Beirut, including previously unseen 2011 Beirut shots. The show also features two series on Valle d'Aosta and the San Gottardo pass, as well as "Sezioni del paesaggio italiano" presented at the 1996 Venice Architecture Biennale in collaboration with Stefano Boeri. Basilico (Milan, 1944–2013) described photographing a city as making typological, historical, or affective choices, seeking places and creating stories. The exhibition avoids chronological order, instead emphasizing distance, balance, and order as key elements of his poetics.
