Gabriele Basilico Retrospective and Photography Festival at Palazzo delle Esposizioni
From January 25 to April 13, 2020, the Palazzo delle Esposizioni in Rome will showcase a significant retrospective titled 'Metropoli' dedicated to Gabriele Basilico, featuring more than 250 pieces created between the 1970s and 2000s, including several works on display for the first time. This exhibition aligns with the free photography festival 'La Democrazia dello sguardo', taking place from January 25 to February 2, which involves over forty professionals, including curators, photographers, and educators, engaging in various discussions and workshops. The festival pays tribute to Basilico, who passed away in 2013, and highlights his documentation of the Palazzo's restoration by studio ABDR (Maria Laura Arlotti, Michele Beccu, Paolo Desideri, Filippo Raimondo). Curators Francesca Pappalardo and Marco Berti are responsible for organizing the event, which marks the first collaboration between the Palazzo and several photography schools in Rome, offering specialized courses and workshops for students.
