g.olmo stuppia's visceral performance in Naples
In Naples, artist g.olmo stuppia (born 1991, Milan) staged a site-specific performance at Galleria Dino Morra Arte Contemporanea, organized by Spazio NEA. The action left behind burnt, chemical, synthetic, and organic remnants, including pig excrement, which assaulted the senses with a pungent odor. Objects from the home of Luigi Ponticelli, known as “Giggino a Bomboletta” and formerly of the Giuliano clan in Forcella, were used as performative elements. A young performer, bathed in warm water poured by the artist, read texts by various authors. Stuppia's relics—everyday items, photographs, bones, flowers—underwent an alchemical process to create small plaster sculptures from acids, fish glue, and furniture fragments. The project involved a pilgrimage through the historic center, the Fontanelle cemetery in Naples, and San Michele in Venice.
