Future Ours: 21 Artists Take Over New York Streets for UN Summit

exhibition · 2026-04-26

At the UN Summit of the Future, where global leaders engage in discussions on education, gender equality, and clean energy, the public art initiative Future Ours has transformed numerous JCDecaux bus shelters throughout New York City with artist-created posters. This project, organized by ART 2030 and co-curated by Patricia Domínguez, Hans Ulrich Obrist, and Jeppe Ugelvig, will be on display until September 29. Twenty-one artists and collectives from various countries have been invited to address pressing social and environmental issues. Notable participants include Olafur Eliasson, Raqs Media Collective, and the Congolese Plantation Workers Art League. Luise Faurschou, ART 2030's founder, emphasized the initiative's goal of promoting awareness of the UN's 17 Sustainable Development Goals through contemporary art. Following its New York launch, Future Ours is set to move to Denmark in 2025, showcasing at the Kunsthal Charlottenborg Biennale in Copenhagen and in public spaces nationwide.
