Future Generation Art Prize Shortlist Reveals 21 Emerging Artists
The PinchukArtCentre in Kiev has unveiled 21 artists shortlisted for the Future Generation Art Prize, a competition founded by the Victor Pinchuk Foundation in 2009. Among the selected are Njideka Akunyili Crosby, Iván Argote, Firelei Báez, Dineo Seshee Bopape, Phoebe Boswell, Vivian Caccuri, Sol Calero, Asli Çavuşoğlu, Vajiko Chachkhiani, Carla Chaim, Christian Falsnaes, EJ Hill, Andy Holden, Li Ran, Ibrahim Mahama, Rebecca Moss, Sasha Pirogova, Kameelah Janan Rasheed, Martine Syms, Kemang Wa Lehulere, and Open Group. Targeting artists under 35, the prize offers a $100,000 cash award to significantly advance their careers, with no restrictions on background or medium. An exhibition featuring works by all shortlisted artists will be held at the PinchukArtCentre from February 25 to April 16, 2017. The winner will be announced at a ceremony in Kiev in March 2017. The shortlist was announced on November 30, 2016.
