FuturDome Launches Summer In Residency in Milan
FuturDome, a historic Art Nouveau building in Milan that once hosted Futurist gatherings, has launched Summer In, a residency program running until July 31, 2020. Four Italian artists born between the 1980s and 1990s—Silvia Hell, Domenico Antonio Mancini, Fabrizio Perghem, and Sara Ravelli—will live and work across the 2,000 square meter space, developing new works using any materials or elements of the building, with support from companies like BenQ and brand Marios. Public access is by appointment only, with scheduled meetings on specific dates between May 29 and July 30 involving professionals such as collector Diego Bergamaschi, ATP Diary director Elena Bordignon, critic Barbara Casavecchia, art dealer Annette Hofmann, curator Claudia Santeroni, collector Mauro Mattei, and critic Maria Chiara Valacchi. Founders Ginevra Bria and Atto Belloli conceived the project after three major exhibitions were blocked due to the pandemic, drawing inspiration from the building's history where Futurists continued producing work during WWII. The residency aims to foster dialogue with challenging environments, with each artist pursuing specific projects: Hell creates a computational projection measuring light chromatography in the attics, Mancini explores the sculptural status of thresholds, Ravelli makes sculptures embodying physicality and liberation from unconditional love, and Perghem analyzes sound echoes across the palace.
