FuturDome: A Museum-Housing Hybrid in Milan
FuturDome, a museum-housing project in Milan's Porta Venezia district, merges contemporary art with residential living. Located at via Giovanni Paisiello 6, the Liberty-style building was a historic meeting place for Futurists in the 1940s. After a 12-year restoration led by ISISUF (Istituto Internazionale di Studi sul Futurismo) with artistic direction by Atto Belloli Ardessi, the building now hosts art programming in common areas and private apartments. The restoration, supported by Knauf and restorer Eros Zanotti, preserved original 1913 details. Recent exhibitions include "Le Dictateur" (February 2017), a project space founded in 2006 by Stefania Siani and Federico Pepe, featuring a soundtrack by Teho Teardo. From March 27 to April 15, 2017, "Outer Space" curated by Ginevra Bria brings together ten Italian independent project spaces: Almanac (Turin), Current (Milan), Gelateria Sogni di Ghiaccio (Bologna), Le Dictateur, Mega (Milan), Site Specific (Scicli), T-space (Milan), Tile Project Space (Milan), Treti Galaxie (Turin), and Ultrastudio (Pescara). The exhibition includes a crowdfunding campaign with beartonline.com and special visiting tours by collection specialist Diego Bergamaschi during miart.
