FUTURA Artist Residency Launches at Milan's Fabbrica del Vapore

Milan's Fabbrica del Vapore has launched FUTURA, a new artist residency program promoted by the Comune di Milano – Cultura. Following the conclusion of a residency for Ukrainian artists and the opening of Sebastião Salgado's Amazônia exhibition, FUTURA is curated by Giacomo Zaza and features six young Italian artists: Benedetta Fioravanti, Valentina Furian, Nicoletta Grillo, Lisa Martini, Giovanna Repetto, and Davide Sgambaro. They will live and work at the venue until the end of August 2023. The residency is structured in three phases: 'interagire' (interact), 'deviare' (deviate), and 'attestare' (attest). The first phase involves conversations with eight Italian and international artists, including Luis Gómez Armenteros, Driant Zeneli, Lina Selander, Ange Leccia, Eva Marisaldi, Enrico Serotti, Hicham Benohoud, and Rui Chafes. The second phase will culminate in an exhibition of the residents' work, and the third phase will produce a book and a documentary. Milan's Culture Councillor Tommaso Sacchi emphasized the role of art in urban and social regeneration.
