Fuorisalone 2024: Installations and Design in Milan's 5Vie District
During Milan Design Week, the 5Vie district in Milan's historic center hosts installations around the theme Unlimited Design Orchestra, inspired by South Korean artist Jay Sae Sung Oh's works at Palazzo Litta. At via Cesare Correnti 14, Indian designer Gunjan Gupta presents her Indian Tiny Mega Store, curated by Maria Cristina Didero, featuring the brand Ikkis that translates traditional Indian craftsmanship into contemporary tableware. Upstairs, Japanese brand Alternative Artefacts Danto displays mass-colored tile collections and a collaboration with designer India Mahdavi, shown through eight large ceramic-covered ladders. Teruhiro Yanagihara Studio from Kobe and Arles exhibits Tray tiles usable as small trays. At San Bernardino alle Monache church, the exhibition Paris-Milan: il mobile mobile presents train-carriage-like displays with historic pieces like Eileen Gray's E1027 table and recent French designer creations, promoted by Le Mobilier National and Manufacture de Sèvres. Palazzo Litta features site-specific installations including a motorized version of Gufram's Bocca sofa that can smile and kiss, a carillon tree with yellow passementerie by Sara Ricciardi, and a monumental fountain by Greek designer Kostas Lambridis. In district showrooms, sustainability is highlighted: Tuscan company Luce di Carrara, with chef Davide Oldani, created a collection from marble waste. Events run until Sunday, April 21.
