Fuorisalone 2019: Milan Design Week District Map
The 2019 Fuorisalone in Milan features multiple design districts with distinct themes. La Repubblica del Design, a long-term project by Davide Crippa and ADA, aims to revitalize peripheral areas with 40 locations, including Art-72 Rooms returning from Shanghai. The historical Tortona district gains Ventura Future moving to BASE, while Tortona Rocks focuses on sustainability and Superstudio hosts brand installations. In the historic center, SIAM's 180th anniversary is celebrated with exhibitions like Anton Alvarez's 'L'ultima cera' at the Oratorio della Passione, curated by Nicolas Bellavance-Lecompte, and the Design Pride parade by Seletti. Brera Design District marks its tenth anniversary with a theme of design thinking, featuring ambassadors and new showrooms like Tai Ping's first Italian space. Isola District expands to include Via Farini and Palazzo della Regione, with a Design Village at Stecca 3.0 and a 3D-printed bar. North of Loreto, Alcova returns to ex-Laboratorio Panettoni Cova with independent designers, while Porta Venezia in Design highlights Liberty architecture and collaborations like Nendo for WonderGlass. Lambrate Design District partners with NYCxDesign and emphasizes sustainability with workshops on ecodesign. New districts include Parenti District Art & Design at Teatro Franco Parenti and Dfood in Via Paolo Sarpi, merging food and design.
