Fuoripista Exhibition in Bergamo Explores Art, Sport, and Winter Ahead of 2026 Olympics

exhibition · 2026-04-26

Ahead of the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics, the exhibition 'Fuoripista' opens at gres art 671 in Bergamo, running until February 8, 2026. Curated by Erica Petrillo and Ippolito Pestellini Laparelli under the studio 2050+, the show is structured in five sections like the Olympic rings. It begins with the history of the Games and their connection to art, featuring a bronze skater by Troubetzkoy that won at the 1912 Stockholm Olympics (when arts were an Olympic discipline), a poster by Marino Marini for the 1972 Munich Olympics, and a project by Studio Folder analyzing data from Chamonix 1924 to the present. Three new commissions by gres art 671 include works by Masbedo with Paralympic athlete Andrea Lanfri in the Lunigiana mountains, and two works by Studio Numechi created at IceLab with Olympic figure skater Carolina Kostner. The exhibition also highlights alternative mountaineering stories, such as Afghan skiers and Bolivian cholitas escaladoras, and addresses climate change through works by Brueghel the Younger, Vittore Grubicy De Dragon, Andreas Gursky, Katharina Fleck, Giovanni Betti, and Ludwig Berger. President Roberto Pesenti confirmed the next exhibition will be Isaac Julien's first Italian solo show.
