Fuori Uso 2016 Returns to Pescara After Four-Year Hiatus

After a four-year absence, Pescara revives its contemporary art vocation with the 20th edition of Fuori Uso, the historic exhibition series founded in 1990 by gallerist Cesare Manzo. The 2016 edition takes place at the former courthouse (ex Tribunale di Pescara), marking the first time teachers and students exhibit together. Curated by Giacinto Di Pietrantonio alongside Simone Ciglia, with a working group including Laura Barone, Giorgio D'Orazio, Marco Leonzio, Danilo Tracanna, Anja Verrigni, Cesare Volpe, and Antonio Zappone, the show features around 90 artists from around the world and over 80 works. The emblematic title is 'AVVISO di GARANZIA'. The curatorial aim is to restore a key role to academies in the contemporary art system, with artist-teachers such as Mario Airò, Vedovamazzei, Gianni Caravaggio, Adrian Paci, and Matteo Fato vouching for emerging talents. These educators teach at institutions including the Accademia di Brera, Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti di Milano, Accademia Albertina di Torino, and academies in Rome, Bologna, Urbino, L'Aquila, and Naples. The exhibition runs all summer until September 3.
