Fung+Bedford unveils origami lighting installation at Clerkenwell Design Week
For Clerkenwell Design Week, the design studio Fung+Bedford has unveiled Resonance, a series of three twisted pendant lights crafted from eight-metre-long Tyvek sheets, displayed in the nave of St Bartholomew the Great, one of London's historic churches. Utilizing their unique paper-folding method, each light features folds that are mechanically pre-scored and bent in opposing directions, mimicking mountain and valley shapes. Central to each piece is a twisted LED strip encased in aluminum for added support. This project marks the tenth anniversary of Fung+Bedford, founded by Ashley Bedford and Angela Fung, who began their journey at Clerkenwell Green Association. The installation will be accessible to the public until 21 May.
