Funeral party launches Potalove design coffin collection at Milan Design Week

architecture-design · 2026-05-04

During Milan Design Week, a Funeral Party was held at a former industrial space in Milan to launch Potalove, a funeral collection by Rosalba Piccinni, founder of the Milanese flower shop and bistro Potafiori. Piccinni, a self-described 'cantafiorista' from Bergamo who produced a pop-jazz album 'Arrivi' and performed six concerts at the Blue Note, developed the collection after experiencing the deaths of several loved ones. She believes death should be a moment of sharing, not just pain, and aims to change the aesthetics of funerals, starting with coffins as the last design object a person connects with. The Potalove collection, on view at Potafiori during Milan Design Week, features minimalist coffins and urns that double as interior design objects, fully customizable in finishes, colors, and surface treatments to reflect the buyer's personality. The launch event on Friday, April 13, featured Bach played by pianists Danilo Rea and Ramin Bahrami, Johnny Cash's cover of Depeche Mode's 'Personal Jesus', and an improvised musical performance inspired by New Orleans funeral celebrations, joined by Piccinni singing 'Lascia che io pianga'.
