Fulvio Dot and Sandra Zeugna in Dialogue at Galleria di Monfalcone

The Galleria di Monfalcone presents "Contaminazioni della Storia", a two-person exhibition featuring Fulvio Dot and Sandra Zeugna, running from April 24 to June 28, 2026. Dot's work builds urban palimpsests through layers of glues, mortars, plasters, and military tarps, incorporating Venetian lagoon imagery, digital signals, social media icons, binary codes, and system errors. Zeugna operates through subtraction and gestural tension, with figures emerging and dissolving in chromatic fields of lilac, midnight blue, and deep reds. The exhibition includes a historical section with works by masters Zigaina, Music, and Basaldella, contextualizing the artists within the Friulian tradition. In an interview, Dot cites his training at the Venice School of Architecture and his first solo show in 1976 as formative; Zeugna names Giuseppe Zigaina as her mentor, who transformed her approach from descriptive to introspective. Both artists use mixed media but for different ends: Dot seeks three-dimensional illusion within painting, while Zeugna relies on charcoal for immediacy. They describe their dialogue as revealing affinities beneath apparent differences, with both exploring tension between control and release.
