Fujifilm Reveals Over 40 Lens Concepts, XF 16-80mm f/2.8 Wins Vote
In a PetaPixel Podcast interview, Fujifilm's General Manager of Professional Imaging Products Yuji Igarashi discussed the company's lens development strategy, revealing over 40 realistic lens concepts. The most popular concept from the Focus on Glass event was the XF 16-80mm f/2.8 fast zoom lens, receiving over 16% of votes. Igarashi noted that the dual focal length lens (XF 18 and 30mm) surprised him by taking third place with 12% support. The second-place XF 18-50mm f/1.4 was expected due to demand for bright apertures. Igarashi admitted telephoto lenses remain Fujifilm's weakest area, with room for growth. The Focus on Glass event allowed optical engineers Yukitaka Takeshita and Yuma Miyauchi to share their passion for lens design. Fujifilm may hold another vote for concepts not included in the initial event.
