Fucina Madre 2024: Artigianato e Design in Basilicata
Fucina Madre, the third edition of the expo promoting craftsmanship and design in Basilicata, takes place in Matera from May 1 to 5, 2024. Organized by ATP Basilicata, the event features over 46 exhibitors including artisans, designers, and makers from the region, showcasing objects, clothing, furniture, jewelry, leather, and textiles. Highlights include the exhibition "L'Oggetto Eroticomico" curated by Patrizia Scarzella and Palmarosa Fuccella, displaying erotic coffee pots by Riccardo Dalisi from the Museo Alessi collection in Crusinallo, created between the late 1970s and mid-1980s. Another project, "Un gioiello per la pace," involves students and professors from Liceo Levi in Matera, Politecnico di Torino, University of Perugia, University Vanvitelli in Naples, and the School of Social Design in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, presenting 24 jewelry pieces from workshops. The expo also includes "L'arte del fare" exhibition organized with APT Basilicata, focusing on restoration, cataloging, and cultural heritage preservation. The event aims to create a network of operators transforming their activities into modern tourist experiences, promoting slow, sustainable tourism respecting local traditions.
